They threw the Blues game right back at them. And kept doing it after they went ahead instead of turtling. Nicely done.

Last night was a prime example as Ullmark had at least three or four prime saves during the game, two of them with the game tied 1-1 in the second period and the Blues putting on the pressure. Keeping the game tied paved the way for the Sabres to go into the dressing room ahead 2-1 as Johan Larsson scored with only nine seconds left in the second period. It was a downer for St. Louis and a boost for Buffalo as they got out of the period with the lead thanks to Ullmark, Larsson and some puck-luck as the Blues hit three posts in that period.

That was the worst thing with the last Lehner year. That guy had a knack for letting in a goal at the worst imaginable point of the game.

It just shows that even sound defensive teams make bonehead plays. This is why you play the games.

It’s amazing what a little puck luck can do for a team or even a individual player. Sometimes when puck luck is going your way you can pitch all other stats in the garbage. I would say this phenomenon happens to pretty well every team and individual player. The Sabres deserve a little puck luck now as they have had their share of the opposite.

Getting a 65 point player 2OA that is quite possibly the 6th best forward in his own draft class is like parking money in a GIC that is not even outpacing Inflation.

NOT ALL DRAFT CLASSES ARE THE SAME


there was zero chance that anyone not named bennett, reinhart or leon was going to be taken number 2, no matter who was making that pick

so just because we didn't get point, arvidsson, or anyone picked in the first round after pick 4, that's on the old gm and his scouting staff

can't change time

funny, jack plays a little d and matures a little, and this season he FINALLY becomes the player we all hoped for and is deserving to be in the conversation for the second best center in the game
